Armed Marshals to be in Douglas County Schools
New Security Measures in Douglas County Schools
Staring with the 2013-2014 school year, armed marshals will begin to patrol Douglas county schools. This will include elementary schools, middle schools, and early childhood education centers in Parker and nearby Douglas County cities. The school district created this new Marshal Program in response to the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. Local police officers and deputies in plain clothes will now visit Douglas County schools daily to ensure the safely of the children. They hope that this will create a new level of safety and security in the community. Teachers in the community have also been trained in locating safe areas and many facilities have updated locks, cameras, and exterior lighting.
