The Altos research team has developed a chart called the Market Action Index which was created to display measurements of current market conditions. The chart is a good indication of current real estate availability and real estate demand and it explains to viewers whether or not it’s a buyers or sellers market. When the numbers on the chart are over 30, there is an indication of high real estate demand, making it a seller’s market. Conversely, when the numbers are below 30, it means that it’s a buyer’s market. This chart is helpful because it’s a good indication of current market prices. For example, when it’s a buyer’s market, the prices will typically fall and when it’s a seller’s market the prices of local real estate will typically become higher.
